What is Fraxel Potenza?
Fraxel Potenza is a combination treatment that pairs the fractional mode of a picosecond laser with Potenza, a microneedle radiofrequency (RF) device from Jeisys Medical. Here, the part referred to as 'Fraxel' is the fractional mode in which a micro-lens array (MLA) splits the picosecond laser beam into thousands of tiny dots. It is not an erbium (Er:YAG) thermal ablative laser; it works through a photoacoustic, non-thermal mechanism that limits surface damage while addressing scars and pigment.
How it works
The picosecond laser delivers ultra-short pulses on the order of one-trillionth of a second, so it acts through a photoacoustic effect before heat can spread to the surrounding tissue, gently targeting pigment and scar tissue. The MLA divides the beam into microscopic points, minimizing epidermal damage while sending regeneration signals into the dermis. Potenza's microneedles are then inserted directly into the dermis to deliver RF energy, prompting collagen and elastin remodeling at different depths. Because the two devices act on separate layers from the epidermis to the dermis, they address scars and pores in a complementary way.
