What Is Skin Botox?
Skin botox is a treatment in which diluted botulinum toxin is injected in tiny doses, spread evenly across the shallow dermal layer of the skin. Unlike conventional botox, which strongly relaxes the facial muscles, skin botox works close to the skin surface to gently modulate the activity of the sebaceous glands and the arrector pili muscles, so that pores, oil, redness, and fine lines can all be managed together. How It Works
The dermal layer of the skin contains sebaceous glands, sweat glands, the arrector pili muscles attached to the hair follicles, and small blood vessels. Skin botox delivers small amounts of botulinum toxin broadly across this shallow layer, easing the activity of the glands linked to oil production and the tension of the arrector pili muscles that make pores look larger. As a result, oil and shine are reduced, pores appear tighter, and the formation of fine lines from facial expressions is gently softened. Effects usually begin to appear 3-7 days after treatment, become most noticeable around the two-week mark, and typically last about 3-4 months. However, the onset and duration may vary from person to person.
