What is Duragen V?
Duragen V is a collagen booster based on PLLA (poly-L-lactide). Rather than filling volume instantly like a hyaluronic acid filler, its fine spherical particles of roughly 40–50 µm break down slowly in the dermis and prompt the skin to produce its own collagen. PLLA is a biodegradable material that has long been used in aesthetic and medical fields, and as an ingredient it has a history of U.S. FDA approval. The Duragen V product itself, however, is a skin booster used under Korea's MFDS (식약처) regulatory standards and is not itself U.S. FDA-approved.
How it works
Once injected into the dermis, the PLLA particles in Duragen V gradually break down, stimulating fibroblasts to generate new collagen. The particles are typically absorbed by the body within about six months, while the newly formed collagen remains to support firmness and volume. Collagen production usually begins around 3–4 weeks after treatment and settles in gradually over about 3–6 months, so the change appears naturally rather than abruptly.
