What is Ellanse?
Ellanse is a filler-type collagen booster made of PCL (polycaprolactone) microspheres suspended in a CMC gel. Right after injection, the gel component fills in lost volume immediately, and over time the PCL stimulates your own collagen production so the added volume is maintained for a long period. At Seye Clinic we work with the M type, which lasts about 2 years, and a contour product used to refine the facial outline and heart line.
How it works
Ellanse has a dual mechanism in which two actions occur in sequence. First, the CMC gel carrier fills the treated area right after injection for an immediate correcting effect. As the gel is gradually absorbed, the PCL microspheres stimulate the fibroblasts in the dermis to produce new collagen over roughly 2-3 months. Because the PCL microspheres break down slowly over more than 24 months and are cleared as water and carbon dioxide, the volume continues even after the gel has been absorbed.
