What is Hilo Wave?
Hilo Wave is a hyaluronic acid (HA) skin booster developed by HIGHER Corporation and distributed exclusively in Korea by Neopharm. It uses non-animal, high-purity HA sourced from France and is designed with a dual-molecular structure that contains both high- and low-molecular-weight HA, allowing it to replenish moisture and volume across both the deeper and more superficial layers of the skin. It is formulated with only a minimal amount of the crosslinker BDDE (a low-crosslink formula), which lowers the risk of immune and foreign-body reactions and makes it suitable even for sensitive skin. It is approved by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a Class 4 medical device and can be injected directly into the dermis.
How It Works
Once the dual-molecular HA is injected into the dermis, the low-molecular HA settles in the more superficial layers and the high-molecular HA in the deeper layers, acting as a wide-reaching moisture reservoir. A single HA molecule draws in many times its own weight in water, hydrating the skin from within, while the micro-stimulation of the injection itself activates fibroblasts to induce collagen and elastin production. Because newly formed collagen typically takes about 8–12 weeks to stabilize within the skin, the results appear gradually over time.
