What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a collagen-stimulating filler whose main ingredient is calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a calcium compound naturally found in the body's bones and teeth. Manufactured by Merz, it is FDA-approved for correcting facial wrinkles and restoring volume to the backs of the hands. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which focus on immediate volume, Radiesse fills volume instantly while also stimulating your skin to produce new collagen over time, improving elasticity and skin texture together. At Seye Clinic it is used across broad areas such as the cheeks, jawline, backs of the hands and décolletage, while the under-eye, forehead, nose and lips are excluded.
How It Works
Radiesse consists of smooth CaHA microspheres about 25~45 micrometers in size (roughly 30%) suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel carrier (roughly 70%). Immediately after injection the gel provides instant volume and lift. Over the following weeks the gel is gradually absorbed while the CaHA particles stimulate fibroblasts, triggering the production of new type I and type III collagen (neocollagenesis) that fills the space the gel leaves behind. The CaHA particles stimulate collagen for about 12~18 months, then break down into calcium and phosphate that the body clears naturally. For texture and elasticity a hyperdilution technique spreads the diluted product across a superficial layer; for cheek and jawline contouring, a firmer consistency is used for structural support.
Key Benefits
- Instantly restores volume, sharpening hollow cheeks and a soft jawline
- Stimulates your own collagen for gradually improving firmness
- Refines skin texture and radiance when injected superficially (hyperdilution)
- Restores volume to thinning skin on the hands and décolletage
- Combines immediate gel volume with long-term collagen for results lasting up to 12~18 months
Recommended For
- Those who want more natural, longer-lasting volume than HA filler
- Those who want volume plus improved firmness and texture at once
- Those whose hollow cheeks or jawline make the face look saggy
- Those bothered by prominent tendons and veins on the backs of the hands
- Those concerned about thin, crepey skin on the décolletage or neck
Radiesse at Seye Clinic
At Seye Clinic we tailor the consistency and injection depth of Radiesse to each area and skin condition. Areas needing volume and contour, such as the cheeks and jawline, are treated at a consistency suited to structural support, while areas targeting texture and elasticity are treated with a diluted product placed superficially for a more natural result. Numbing cream is applied before treatment and a lidocaine-containing formulation is used to minimize discomfort. Treatment takes about 20~30 minutes depending on the area, and bruising or swelling usually settles within a few days. The dose required and how long results last can vary with your facial volume, skin thickness and degree of aging, so we design a personalized plan through consultation.
