What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a collagen-booster treatment whose main ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Unlike hyaluronic-acid fillers that add material for instant volume, the PLLA microparticles injected into the dermis gradually prompt your own body to produce collagen, so volume and firmness return naturally over time.
How Sculptra Works
PLLA microparticles placed in the deep dermis trigger a natural healing response. Macrophages recognize the particles and activate fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen, and over the following weeks to months new type I and type III collagen forms around each particle. For this reason results appear gradually, usually over 6-12 weeks rather than immediately, and the PLLA particles themselves are slowly absorbed by the body while the newly formed collagen sustains the volume.
