What is filler dissolving?
Filler dissolving is a procedure that injects hyaluronidase (Hyalase) to break down and reabsorb previously placed hyaluronic acid (HA) filler. If you are unhappy with the shape, if the filler has migrated over time, or if overcorrection has created unnatural volume, it can help return the area close to its original state. Note that hyaluronidase acts only on HA-based fillers and has no effect on calcium- or PLLA-based products.
How it works
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that cleaves the cross-links in hyaluronic acid, breaking large molecules into smaller units. The fragmented HA is then naturally absorbed and cleared by the body, reducing the filler volume. The reaction begins within a few hours, noticeable changes usually appear within 1–3 days, and full absorption can take up to 1–2 weeks. When a large amount of filler is present or the area is wide, the treatment may be divided into several sessions spaced 1–2 weeks apart.
