What Is Body Pigment Toning?
Body Pigment Toning is a laser treatment that improves pigmentation and darkening on areas of the body such as the underarms, elbows, knees and bikini line. Melanin that has deepened due to friction, irritation, laser hair removal or pregnancy is targeted area by area with repeated, gentle laser passes to work toward an even, clear skin tone. How It Works
Body Pigment Toning is based on the principle of selective photothermolysis. Laser energy at specific wavelengths is selectively absorbed by melanin in the skin, breaking the pigment into fine particles that are gradually cleared by immune cells such as macrophages. Lucas is a Q-switched Nd:YAG (nanosecond) laser using 1064nm and 532nm wavelengths to address both deep and superficial pigment, while PicoSure Pro delivers a 755nm alexandrite wavelength in picoseconds (trillionths of a second) to shatter pigment finely while limiting thermal damage. Because it is a low-fluence toning approach repeated over multiple sessions, stress on the surrounding tissue is kept to a minimum.
