What is PicoPlus Dual Toning?
PicoPlus Dual Toning is a combination toning program that uses Lutronic's picosecond laser "PicoPlus" together with the long-pulsed Nd:YAG "Laser Genesis" within a single session. PicoPlus delivers 1064nm and 532nm wavelengths in ultra-short 450-picosecond (one-trillionth of a second) pulses to break melanin pigment into fine particles, while Laser Genesis gently delivers 1064nm heat energy into the dermis to support collagen regeneration and calm redness. By combining two lasers with different actions, the treatment aims to improve pigment while caring for skin texture and firmness at the same time.
How It Works
PicoPlus is an Nd:YAG laser that uses an extremely short, picosecond-domain pulse width. The 532nm wavelength, which is strongly absorbed by melanin, targets superficial spots and freckles in the epidermis, while the deeper-reaching 1064nm wavelength acts on pigment in the dermis. The shorter the pulse, the less heat spreads to surrounding tissue, so the laser selectively shatters pigment through a photoacoustic effect. This makes it especially well suited to "toning" — delivering low energy across multiple passes. The Laser Genesis step that follows deposits 1064nm long-pulsed energy into the dermis without contact, acting on capillaries and collagen to add the redness relief and texture refinement that pico toning alone does not fully cover.
